Michelle Obama has been out campaigning for her husband Senator Barrack Obama. Mrs. Obama recently gave an interview to the MSNBC Morning Joe Show. During the interview asked by the interviewer Mika Brzezinski how they was going to win the primary and general election. She replied we will win by being honest with the American people and telling them the truth. She stated that Mr. Obama would be conducting his primary campaign telling America the truth whether it was what they wanted to hear. Mika then asked Mrs. Obama what she thought of the notion that a lot of blacks would be voting for Hillary because they does not believe Barrack can win the General Election, she then went on to reply “The fact is that we have been down this road before”. Mr. Obama made the same reference on Meet the Press. Michelle also said we must get away from this type of thinking because unlike others Barrack can pull people together and lead them to getting things done. Something else Barrack said on Meet the Press. Michelle then went on to rant about how with her you get exactly what you see. She started taking as though all blacks owe it to themselves to vote for Barrack because he is black, and be proud of the historical nature of the election. No one whether black or white owes their vote to anyone because of race. Here is some truth, when asked how you plan to get the black votes the answer should have been by speaking to and prioritizing issues of their concern remembering that issues of interest crosses the spectrum from poverty to lack of affordable housing. The same would go to attract blacks that maybe would take a second look at him if not for Hillary being in the race. You must give our communities something to have hope and faith about besides having a black presidential candidate from Illinois. Remember Jesse Jackson and Carol Mosley Braun.
With Hillary most blacks understand what they will be getting. Bill Clinton was not considered to be the first black president just because he went on Arsenio Hall and played a Sax. We in the black communities see past the media portrayals. We actually listen to what the candidates and leaders are saying, and then make a judgment for ourselves. We give the politicians opportunity to lead and propose or try and enact what we heard from their mouths not what the media presents as their policy. Mrs. Clinton can be called indecisive and a waffler whichever tag the media decides is the flavor of the day. What we actually hear come from her mouth is what our opinions are based on. Media mind shaping is for the meek and uninformed. Because someone comes from a poor background, slum, ghetto underprivileged community, it does not make for stupidity. Note to the media and the Obamas, the Clintons are so well loved in the black communities because we actually stayed focused and paid attention to what they said. Not what you espouse or portray, for us to believe they actually mean. Women please do not fall prey to Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Edwards being dispatched out to portray their spouses to be better for women rights than Mrs. Clinton. The relevance of electing the first woman president of the United States alone will do more to further women rights Than the Obamas and Edwards cold ever dream up.
